Norwegian PGA Tour golfer Viktor Hovland earned his fourth victory and the most impressive of his career on June 3 at the Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio. Hovland, the No. 7 ranked player in the world, came up short several times in big tournaments earlier in the 2022-23 season. He finished T-3 at the Players Championship and T-2 at the PGA Championship. His prior victories were on less prestigious courses in Mexico, Puerto Rico, and the Bahamas.

Hovland proved himself worthy of a top-10 world ranking by shooting a 7-under 281 at Muirfield, the challenging course created by legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus. Hovland shot 2-under par in the final round to earn a playoff against Denny McCarthy. He made par on the first playoff hole to secure the tournament win.

With his victory, Hovland joins a list of past winners at the Memorial that includes Patrick Cantlay, Jon Rahm, Tiger Woods, and Greg Norman.
